School board candidate, frm. principal attacks single mom — has protective order issued against him

OSCEOLA, Ind. — REAL News Michiana is learning details about an incident involving the former Principal of Penn High School and current PHM School Board candidate Doug Chaffee involving a terrifying attack against a young single mother outside of his son’s home last year. The attack led to the young woman, who was dating Doug Chaffee’s son, to seek and receive an Order of Protection against the former principal.

Doug Chaffee himself detailed the incident to REAL News Michiana’s Clifton French in a phone conversation on September 21st, 2023. At the time, Doug Chaffee along with his wife Brenda were seeking a story be written about their son and current PHM School Board Member Matt Chaffee, regarding his unrelated history of purchasing prostitutes because they were upset Matt Chaffee was supporting the Order of Protection.

“I was angry. That whore is using our son.” Doug Chaffee and his wife said regarding the attack while on the phone with RNM in September.

***It’s important to note, the woman/victim is a small business owner who works multiple jobs supporting her family. The profane, derogatory and slanderous attacks against her are objectively disgusting.***

According to Doug Chaffee, his son Matt Chaffee has a major problem with women and consistently moves too fast. He and his wife Brenda told RNM that Matt Chaffee had requested his parents do whatever they had to in order to prevent him from making another mistake with women. Matt Chaffee later admitted to RNM that he had made this request of his parents. Matt Chaffee also detailed his plans to propose to the woman after only dating her for a short time. Both Brenda and Doug Chaffee used this request as justification for their admittedly abhorrent behavior.

“We saw that whore’s car outside of his (Matt Chaffee’s) house, so we blocked her in.” Brenda Chaffee told RNM. “She’s using him for his money. She has (several) kids. She sees an easy target. He doesn’t have any money! We’re paying for everything!”

Both Brenda and Doug Chaffee admitted to putting hands on the woman’s car and screaming obscenities at her on multiple occasions. They also detailed another incident in which they barged into Matt Chaffee’s home and confronted the woman in another profanity laced tirade.

“Our ultimate goal is to protect our grandson (Matt Chaffee’s child). He (Matt Chaffee) made a huge mistake by knocking up that other whore (another derogatory reference — this time directed at the mother of Matt Chaffee’s son). We’ve been stuck paying all of the legal bills for that (custody dispute).” Brenda Chaffee said. “After everything we’ve done for him, he’s going to ruin our reputation!”

A judge issued an order of protection against Doug Chaffee for the incident on September 1st, 2023. The victim, who REAL News Michiana will not be identifying, later broke off her relationship with Matt Chaffee and did not seek to have the order extended. The order was then dismissed two and a half months later. There is video of the incident, however, the victim has not wanted the video to be made public. RNM is respecting that request.

MATT CHAFFEE

During the conversation with Doug and Brenda Chaffee on September 21st, the couple detailed several disturbing incidents involving their son, PHM School Board Member Matt Chaffee. After months of investigating the claims and interviews with multiple people familiar with Matt Chaffee’s issues, RNM was able to confirm many of the concerns his parents presented, showing Matt Chaffee knowingly broke the law multiple times with his involvement in prostitution.

On September 21st, 2023, Matt Chaffee’s father, Doug Chaffee, reached out to RNM via text message asking for a phone call between him and his wife. The couple initially requested an off-the-record conversation — but later requested to be on the record to have a story written. RNM is only providing on-the-record information in this story.

“I am ashamed that I supported him (Matt Chaffee) and helped him get elected.” Doug Chaffee, Matt Chaffee’s father, wrote in part. “He is in a state that he can’t control himself and really needs to get back into therapy.”

What followed was an hours long phone conversation regarding Matt Chaffee’s lifelong struggles with mental health issues and a sexual appetite for prostitutes that has spanned the country.

PROSTITUTION

During the conversation, Matt Chaffee’s step-mother, Brenda, described multiple alleged incidents involving prostitutes, including an incident in which a prostitute robbed him. She described a time when Matt Chaffee was in Oklahoma and had to call his parents for help after an alleged incident with a prostitute there.

RNM later spoke to Matt Chaffee who admitted to paying prostitutes for sex, but did not go into details of the incidents.

It appears the Chaffee’s have recently settled their differences, as Matt Chaffee just announced his endorsement of his father’s PHM School Board candidacy in a post to Facebook on June 17th.
