MISHAWAKA, Ind. — The St. Joseph County GOP selected Jackie Horvath as its next leader at a caucus on Wednesday night. Horvath is replacing Tyler Gillean, who was elected to the position following the tragic death of former Chair Zach Potts, who was killed in a car crash along with Congresswoman Jackie Walorski in August of 2022.

Horvath is an esteemed entrepreneur, businesswoman and conservative political activist. She founded Horvath Communications in 1996. According to the company’s website, “We own and develop wireless infrastructure for mobile network operators. The core of Horvath’s business is in owning and developing cellular towers, with the first being built in our hometown, before expanding nationwide. Our ownership footprint stretches from California to Maine. We work with the wireless carriers to meet their needs for network expansion nationwide. Since 1996, Horvath has developed over 1,200 tower locations. Horvath has a staff of 15 employees that oversees its site development projects throughout the country.”

In recent years, Horvath has become more and more involved in politics and the pro-life movement. She and her family started the local Hoosier Conservative Voices PAC, helping to support local conservative candidates. Shortly after, they created Voices for Life, the state’s fastest growing pro-life organization.

While Horvath’s credentials and experience are extremely impressive, she is filling the shoes of arguably the most successful chair in the county’s history. Under Gillean’s leadership, St. Joseph County turned the Clerk, County Council and County Assessor from Democrat to Republican. Republicans now hold all of the following for the first time in the history of the GOP: Assessor’s Office, Clerk’s Office and BOTH County Council and Commissioners.

In less than two years, Gillean helped raise nearly $750,000 for the party and set back-to-back record breaking Lincoln Day Dinner events. This year, 575 people attended; an all time record.

Gillean is also responsible for uniting the Mishawaka GOP with the rest of the county Republican party — something that had not been done in 90 years.
