MISHAWAKA, Ind. — REAL News Michiana has confirmed disturbing details regarding the personal life of Penn Harris Madison School Board Member Matt Chaffee, including years of paying for sex with prostitutes, problems with alcohol abuse and, according to family members, severe mental health issues. RNM was contacted by Chaffee’s own parents in September of 2023, seeking we publish a story regarding their son’s problems and their concerns about his ability to effectively serve on the PHM School Board. After months of investigating the claims and interviews with multiple people familiar with Chaffee’s issues, RNM has been able to confirm many of the concerns his parents presented.
Despite our investigation showing Chaffee knowingly broke the law multiple times with his involvement in prostitution, he made a speech at Monday night’s PHM School Board meeting berating other members for violating the law while claiming he never does so himself.
BACKGROUND
On September 21st, 2023, Matt Chaffee’s father, Doug Chaffee, reached out to RNM via text message asking for a phone call between him and his wife.
“I am ashamed that I supported him (Matt Chaffee) and helped him get elected.” Doug Chaffee, Matt Chaffee’s father, wrote in part. “He is in a state that he can’t control himself and really needs to get back into therapy.”
What followed was an hours long phone conversation regarding Matt Chaffee’s lifelong struggles with mental health issues and a sexual appetite for prostitutes that has spanned the country. At the time, Matt Chaffee was involved in legal action against his own parents, leading them to contact RNM to discuss the issues their son has been facing and request a story be published.
PROSTITUTION
During the conversation, Matt Chaffee’s step-mother, Brenda, described multiple alleged incidents involving prostitutes, including a fairly recent incident in which a prostitute robbed him and took off with his wallet. She described a time when Matt Chaffee was in Oklahoma and had to call his parents for help after an alleged incident with a prostitute there.
RNM later spoke to Matt Chaffee who admitted to paying prostitutes for sex, but did not go into details of the incidents. Despite his own admission to breaking the law by paying prostitutes for sex, Matt Chaffee feigned a moral high-ground when addressing the PHM Board on Monday, calling for the resignation of PHM School Board President Chris Riley.
“I’m a big policy and bylaw guy. I try to follow the law in everything I do.” Matt Chaffee stated.
In Matt Chaffee’s defense, Riley does appear to have broken multiple policies and laws in recent attacks against a conservative parent, which have been well documented in multiple RNM investigations.
