SOUTH BEND, Ind. — A South Bend couple is in jail accused of raping a woman at knife point. According to court documents, 30-year-old China Pinkney physically attacked a woman then held a knife to her as she was raped by her boyfriend, 32-year-old Deccoe Tate.
According to charging documents, the incident happened in September of 2022, at Tate's apartment. Investigators claim that's where Pinkney initially threw the victim down a flight of stairs then started threatening her with a knife. At that point, Pinkney directed the victim to perform oral sex on Tate before she was forced to have sexual intercourse with the man.
After the rape, the woman was able to flee from Tate's home. According to witness statements, she ran to a neighbor's house as Tate chased her. The neighbor was able to call 911 to get the victim help.
Investigators claim Tate admitted that his girlfriend, Pinkney, attacked the woman. However, he denied having any sexual contact with the victim. Investigators obtained a warrant to get a DNA sample from Tate.
Pinkney told officers that a woman cannot rape another woman.
Tate was arrested and charged with the Rape in December. A warrant was issued for Pinkney in the case. Police arrested her on February 7th, 2023.
