SOUTH BEND, Ind. — In an exemplary example of the ineffectiveness of the criminal justice system in St. Joseph County, a man who was convicted of Homicide in 2019 and was released shortly after, continues to commit crimes in our community.
In 2019, Sedric Davidson shot and killed a 17-year-old boy. Davidson was convicted of Reckless Homicide and was sentenced to 5 years in prison. However, nearly all of it was suspended and Davidson was instead placed on probation and allowed to walk free.
Davidson was then arrested on gun and drug charges in December of 2021. He spent less than 3 weeks in jail before he was released again. Davidson skipped his court hearings and has been on the run ever since. He was finally found and arrested this week.
According to arrest records, Davidson has been charged with Escape in past. He’s also been charged with multiple drug charges involving cocaine, fentanyl, opioid pills and marijuana.
