NOTRE DAME, Ind. — The University of Notre Dame is using signage to publicly shame unvaccinated students. The new sign is located at the university’s on-site testing site in the Joyce Center.
“Tired of testing because you aren’t vaccinated?” The sign reads at the top. “Get the shot.” The sign continues.
Notre Dame has strict Covid-19 vaccination and booster requirements. According to the Notre Dame website, “Members of the Notre Dame community are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. To be considered fully vaccinated students, faculty and staff must receive two shots of the Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna vaccines, or a single shot of the Johnson and Johnson vaccine puls a Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna booster.”
Notre Dame also has a documented booster requirement.
The university also plans to boot students from campus who are vaccinated but not boosted.
“Students who have been vaccinated for COVID for more than six months, hove not received an exemption from the booster requirement, and fail to upload documentation for their booster vaccine by the end of the day on Friday, Jan. 21 (sic) will be considered noncompliant. After Jan. 21, noncompliant students will be required to participate in weekly surveillance testing, wear masks when indoors on campus, and quarantine for five days and test negative before returning to normal activities if identified as a close contact. In addition, noncompliant students will be unable to participate in Junior Parents Weekend or Senior Week activities and cannot register for Fall 2022 classes.” According to the Notre Dame website.
