NILES, Mich. — Three leaders in Niles Community Schools are openly pushing Critical Race Theory onto elementary school children. And, according to an article by the Niles Daily Star, they’re making sure the rest of the district’s teachers and staff are equipped to do the same.
The Daily Star article focused on a social-emotional learning training for teachers and staff that was run by Curriculum Director Ann Bingham, as well as two elementary school principals: Jennifer Shabazz of Ballard Elementary and Jeron Blood of Southside Elementary.
According to the article, the training included anti-bias tests and discussions regarding race and gender and equality.
The article gives a glowing review of how these three radical educators are using SEL and Black History to Trojan Horse critical race theory into the curriculum. “We call it going beyond Rosa Parks and Martin Luther King.” Shabazz is quoted as saying in the article. “Really looking past the everyday that we talk about a lot during Black History Month and going beyond that. So, the team really worked to put together a very good document that is for elementary and secondary students to help with the ideas and links and things like that, that they can go to for themselves.”
REAL News Michiana has submitted a Freedom of Information Act request for that document, but has not yet received it. However, in a response to the request, Bingham said the document was for teachers and staff, not students.
“We know that this is difficult work. It’s important. It can ruffle feathers, and it needs to be done the right way.” The article quotes Blood as saying. “We don’t want to just have lip service and then it goes away, but we also want to move slowly so that it doesn’t blow up in our face.” Blood continued while obviously speaking about Critical Race Theory.
“I know I now have more awareness of my own white privilege and it really impacts looking at curriculum and instruction.” Niles Schools’ Curriculum Director, Ann Bingham, is quoted as saying.
Shabazz and Bingham have been fairly open about their radical and political views on social media.
Bingham has shared CRT based information on her Twitter feed, as seen below.

Shabazz, who is an open activist and volunteer for Democrat causes, also shares plenty on social media. She has taken to Facebook to slam former president Trump and praise the Democrat Board Member of the St. Joseph County Voter Registration Office, Muhammad Shabazz, who is currently being sued in federal court for sexual harassment in the office.
