SOUTH BEND, Ind. — REAL News Michiana has discovered the radical social media posts of the newest assistant principal of a South Bend middle school. And, it turns out, she isn’t even a licensed teacher.
RNM has confirmed Valeria Chamorro was promoted to an assistant principal position at Navarre Middle School earlier this month. Her social media feed is full of anti-American and anti-police posts.
In June of 2020, Chamorro posted “ACAB” (the acronym for All Cops Are Bastards). The very next day, she posted the full “All Cops Are Bastards” saying to clear up any confusion.
In October, she posted a picture celebrating the vandalism of a Christopher Columbus statue that says “Happy Indigenous People’s Day Everyone.”
Chamorro had been teaching social studies at Navarre Middle School for a year and a half prior to the recent promotion. However, according to Indiana Department of Education records, Chamorro doesn’t even have an actual teacher’s license. Instead, she’s been a teacher on an emergency permit the entire time.
Navarre Middle School is part of the South Bend Empowerment Zone, a special school district that was created in 2019 to help the struggling school and its four feeder elementary schools. It has its own independent board and is run independently of the South Bend Community School Corporation, but still falls under the umbrella of South Bend schools.
Earlier this year, the top administrator of the Empowerment Zone kicked a South Bend Police officer out of one of the elementary schools as he did a walk through the day after a school shooting threat. The entire incident was captured on police bodycam and can be seen here.
