REAL PoV: Matt Chaffee’s actions are disgusting. He should NOT resign

Matt Chaffee
Matt Chaffee, Member of the Penn Harris Madison Board of School Trustees

MISHAWAKA, Ind. — Either everyone is to be held accountable or nobody is. It is really that simple. I’m finished with the “rules for thee, but not for me” crowd on both sides of the political spectrum. Because of that, Matt Chaffee should not resign from the Penn Harris Madison School Board AND conservatives should condemn his actions.

School Board Member Matt Chaffee paying for prostitutes is bad. It’s REALLY bad. What’s just as disgusting is that the same people who have been calling for the termination of teachers and administrators for being involved in sexually immoral behavior are now ignoring his, going so far as to defend him or call the incidents “made up.” Here are the facts: Chaffee admitted to doing these things to me. Further, he has yet to come forward and publicly deny any of it. If ANYONE is accused of paying a prostitute, and it’s not true, believe me, they’re going to come out quickly and publicly denying the accusations. And everyone knows Chaffee is quick to hit “send” on a press release.

At the same time, Chaffee’s political opponents on the PHM School Board used this information in a ridiculous, disingenuous political stunt, by holding a special meeting and voting on a resolution to ask for his resignation.

The PHM School Board is full of despicable characters. Board President Chris Riley used his position to illegally direct school district staff to attack his political opponents. The School Board never held a meeting or drafted a resolution asking for his resignation. And, instead, swept the entire thing under the rug.

Board Vice President Ryan McCullough attempted to get a parent fired from his private sector job for speaking out on the sexualization of children. The School Board never held a meeting or drafted a resolution asking for his resignation. Once again, the incident was ignored.

Both McCullough and Riley have violated school policy and potentially committed actual crimes. Both of them should have resigned. However, the are still sitting on the board and are now demanding the resignation of their political rival. That’s not how this works. The “rules for thee but not for me” era of politics is dead. If they want Chaffee out, they need to also be held accountable for their actions and resign as well. That has not happened.

I published and uncovered the story about Chaffee paying for prostitutes because the public deserves to know about his behavior. If the same facts held true with the liberals on the school board, I would have run a story about them– and conservatives would have celebrated and called for their resignations immediately.

This hypocrisy on all sides is disgusting. Conservatives need to be consistent or we’re no better than the left. Chaffee should be criticized for his behavior, but nobody should expect him to resign. Not only have board members who appeared to have broken the law faced no consequences, teachers and coaches who have posted penises on social media or moonlight as drag queens are still in the classroom.

Once again, either everybody is held accountable or nobody should be. Until all of the people in power realize their job is to help our children and community instead of themselves, this disgusting stand-off will never end.

  1. I stand in support of Chaffee, regardless of this, and quite frankly you putting him on blast for something he shared with you privately makes you not a very good friend, Clifton. Maybe you should check your own morals at the door, for he who has no sin cast the first stone. Do you have no sin, Clifton?

  2. Not sure I understand the gist of it. If the behavior is disgusting and we would all demand the resignation of liberals in a similar situation, why should Chaffee NOT resign. Are you calling for his resignation, or are you not? If not, as the headline and and first paragraph suggest, why even bring this up? Are you calling him out, yet insisting he stay?

  3. “the same people who have been calling for the termination of teachers and administrators for being involved in sexually immoral behavior are now ignoring his”

Clifton, are you really going to try and compare Chaffee discreetly hiring a prostitute (nobody knew until you blew the whistle) with the in-your-kids-face escapades of the lefty teachers and administrators?

Honestly, I wouldn’t even call for a flaming leftist to be terminated over this unless it involved a minor or was posted to social media for minors to see.

  4. Power play on calling out Matt. Showing how the lefties can do no wrong with all of the wrong that they’ve done. They won’t take responsibility for their actions and turn blind eyes. Guess what Matt doesn’t have to either, so big a big double barrel middle fingers to all of them.

  5. From the PHM School Board Policy. The oath has been violated by breaking the law.:

“…I solemnly swear that I will support the Constitution of the United States of America, the Constitution of the State of Indiana, and the laws of the United States and the State of Indiana. I will faithfully execute the duties of my office as a member of this governing body, so help me God.”

    • If you’re in favor of dismissing oathbreakers, we have a long list to get started on before we even get past the PHM school board.

  6. Penn should probably work on all the drugs in the school too . If you ask me they need to really clean that school up. Drug’s everywhere.

  7. Oath breakers… hmm I can think of a lot on the right who break their oathes all the time. And it just has to be a rumor to get someone fired over six shift. He’s a board member he should resign. Such a double standard from you loons.
