GRANGER, Ind. — Indiana State Representative District 5 Candidate Heidi Beidinger (D) was humiliated online for a post on X (formerly known as Twitter) in which she was critical of an Indiana law protecting children from genital mutilation while, at the same time, promoting the practice.
“This morning in Indiana: doctors can’t provide gender-affirming care AND can’t refer their patients to an expert otherwise they would face an aiding and abetting charge. The extremists – Dale DeVon – hate and hurt people. I will not tolerate this hate.” Beidinger wrote in her post.
Beidinger was referring to a law that passed during the 2023 session which bans gender transition procedures on children. According to a brief of the bill on the Indiana General Assembly’s website, the law “Prohibits a physician or other practitioner from: (1) knowingly providing gender transition procedures to an individual who is less than 18 years of age (minor); and (2) aiding or abetting another physician or practitioner in the provision of gender transition procedures to a minor. Specifies certain medical exceptions. Establishes civil enforcement actions.”
Due to a lawsuit filed by the ACLU, the law did not go into effect until last week when the U.S. Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals issued a stay, lifting a injunction that had been issued by a lower court.
People on X piled on against the post by Beidinger, calling her an extremist, evil and many other things.
“You’re a f****** weirdo for fighting for this.” One user wrote.
“‘Gender affirming care’ is mutilation and abuse.” Another user stated.
“You’re an extremist kook. Gender affirming care, aka sex change operations, can be completed by Dr’s on adults in IN. Kids can’t get a tattoo until age 18, but you want them to have sex change operations. Also, no book is banned. Any book store car sell any book, and you know it.” Another user added.
“Liberals call abortion healthcare and body mutilations gender affirming care. Some very sick people.” User FallenEmpire wrote.
“Let’s all pray you don’t get voted into office.” Someone else added.
This is Beidinger’s second attempt at running for the District 5 seat. In 2022, she lost to Republican State Representative Dale DeVon in a 57% to 43% landslide.
BEIDINGER’S HISTORY OF RADICALISM
In 2022, Beidinger’s campaign communications director wrote that she was hopeful COVID killed enough District 5 Republicans to give them a win over incumbent Dale Devon (R).
“I’ve been thinking and saying this for the last 2 years.” Stephanie Wilson posted to Twitter. “It feels gross to say, but it’s possible enough Rs died from COVID to really change the totals at the district level in red states/red areas.”
During the campaign, Beidinger also ran unapologetically on gun control and abortion and has continued going after Republicans regarding public health and the party’s work to put an end to child genital mutilation. In April 2023, she simply posted a picture that states, “Vote Every F*cking Republican Out.”

April 5, 2023: On the recent Indiana law to ban the mutilation of children via sex change operations and treatment: “This is monstrous on so many levels. Gosh, I wonder how Dale Devon (sic) voted since he is so supportive of Hoosier children?” (DeVon voted yes.)
April 11, 2023: More on Indiana’s law to ban child gender transition: “It’s so horrible! We must vote the MAGA GOP out! Organize and vote!”
BEIDINGER AND THE HEALTH DEPARTMENT
Beidinger, who currently works at the University of Notre Dame, served on the St. Joseph County Health Board for years. She was ousted from the board in 2023. However, during COVID, she was the President of the board and was responsible for pushing mass lockdowns, business closures, mask mandates, Critical Race Theory initiatives and pro-abortion services.
