Lou Ann Hazen sworn in as Mishawaka District 3 Councilwoman

MISHAWAKA, Ind. — Lou Ann Hazen (R) was sworn in as the newest member of the Mishawaka Common Council on Saturday. Hazen takes over the seat vacated by her husband, retired Mishawaka Police Chief Tony Hazen, who was recently caucused into a vacant seat on the St. Joseph County Board of Commissioners.

Lou Ann Hazen ran unopposed in the caucus at the St. Joseph County GOP Headquarters on Saturday morning and, after a formal vote, was immediately sworn into the position.

Hazen was born and raised in Mishawaka and met her husband while attending Mishawaka High School. She and her husband Tony have been married for 49 years. They have four children and 10 grandchildren all living in Mishawaka. She and her husband have owned and operated several businesses throughout the area, including multiple convenience stores and fast food establishments. Hazen was also the Executive Assistant to the Mishawaka Mayor for 11.5 years.
