Hill dominates in 2nd GOP Gubernatorial poll

Curtis Hill, GOP Candidate for Governor of Indiana and former Indiana Attorney General

SOUTH BEND, Ind. — Former Indiana Attorney General and current GOP candidate for Governor Curtis Hill dominated in polling for the 2nd straight time since announcing his campaign last month. This time, Hill walked away with more than 51% of votes, beating the second place finisher by more than 18-points.

The straw poll put together by the Hoosier Conservative Voices PAC questioned more than 2,700 Hoosiers about who they would vote for in the GOP primary race for governor. Hill landed 51.5% of the votes, Senator Mike Braun carried 33.8%, Suzanne Crouch had 4.9% and Eric Doden finished with just 2.5%. 7.3% of respondents selected Unknown or Undecided.

“This poll shows what our campaign is hearing across Indiana.” Hill said in a statement. “From the beginning, we launched a grassroots campaign run by Hoosiers, not DC lobbyists and Indianapolis special interest groups. We are building a strong foundation of support fueled by grassroots volunteers who are hungry for proven conservative leadership who will stand up for our values.”

Hill blew away his competition in the first poll regarding the race since he announced his bid for the office with a commanding 20-point lead over the runner up in that poll, Lieutenant Governor Suzanne Crouch. Even more surprising was how poorly presumed frontrunner Senator Mike Braun performed, garnering only 6% of the vote.

The WFYI reader poll, which was held late last month, ended with the following results:

Hill: 43%

Crouch: 22%

Eric Doden: 8%

Braun: 6%

Someone else: 18%
