ELKHART, Ind. — Parents and educators are raising concerns about several pictures that have been put up in public view at an elementary school gymnasium in Elkhart. The photos featuring the LGBTQ rainbow flag and a lesbian marriage are in plain sight at Mary Beck Elementary School for every student and visitor to see and question. The display also contains a drawing of an LGBTQ flag and a communist Black Lives Matter organization magnet.
Sources, who wish not to be named out of fear of retaliation, tell REAL News Michiana the photos were put up by the school’s PE teacher. A staff directory of Mary Beck Elementary School has Alexandria Roskos-Neilson listed as the PE Teacher. Sources tell RNM, despite having a private office to post pictures of her wedding, the PE Teacher decided to use the bulletin board to post the photos and other politically motivated material for children as young as 5-years-old to see.
The purpose of the bulletin board is for educational assistance and is partially used by the teacher for educational direction. The board contains an expectations list for children, a consequences list and other instructions for young kids. Mixed in with the educational instructions are the personal photos of the wedding and political propaganda. Children are forced to view the political material when reading the board as part of their educational directions.
RNM reached out to the Mary Beck Elementary School Principal and the Elkhart Community Schools’ Superintendent regarding their policies on posting political material in view of every student and visitor of the gymnasium. RNM specifically asked if a teacher would be allowed to post a photo of a wedding that featured multiple “Trump” or “MAGA” flags. As of publication, we have not received a response.
