SOUTH BEND, Ind. — REAL News Michiana has discovered a local church is hosting a Halloween themed drag show for children in coordination with the LGBTQ Center of South Bend. The drag show, which is scheduled for tomorrow at River Park Grace Church, is offering free admission to children 4-years-old and younger, children 5-17 get a discounted entry fee of $5. However, adults have to pay $10.
According to event details on the LGBTQ Center’s website, the event is being held at The Well Coffee House on Mishawaka Avenue in South Bend. A quick search of The Well’s website shows the coffee shop and River Park Grace Church are the same entity. The Well is the church’s coffee shop.
According to the church’s website, the executive pastor is a woman by the name of Megan Chandler. RNM searched Chandler’s social media feeds that show she is currently a Ph.D. candidate for Counseling Psychology. She currently holds a masters degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. She also claims to be the founder of The Well on her Facebook page.
RNM reached out to Chandler for comment on the drag show being held at her church. As of publication, she has not responded.
OTHER DRAG SHOWS
The LGBTQ Center has a long history of offering drag shows to children. Over the summer, RNM broke a story about another LGBTQ Center drag show in which a Girl Scout Troop attended. At that event, young Girl Scout members tipped the drag queens with Girl Scout Cookies.
Despite hosting drag shows for children, the LGBTQ Center has garnered support from politicians such as Sheriff Bill Redman and former Mayor, Pete Buttigieg.
