SOUTH BEND, Ind. — The Vice Principal of a South Bend Middle School took to social media to share videos and pictures of her students throwing up gang signs. Navarre Middle School Vice Principal, Carlishia Gadson, posted the photos from the school’s 8th grade graduation celebration 6 days ago.

The photos and videos appear to be from the graduation celebration that took place at the Century Center this past weekend. REAL News Michiana has discovered at least two videos of 8th graders throwing up signs related to the Latin Kings street gang.

In the photos below, found on Vice Principal Gadson’s Facebook Page, a young girl is tossing up a Latin King crown sign. In the picture beside that, another girl is throwing up a “crip killer” sign, which is also used by the Latin Kings. The “crip killer” sign is also used by gangs like the Vice Lords, which is a common gang in the area as well.

RNM Reached out to Vice Principal Gadson for comment. As of publication, she has not responded.

Gang infiltration into South Bend Middle Schools is nothing new. An RNM investigation last year uncovered a high ranking member of the Latin Kings had actually been hired as the In-School Suspension teacher at Jackson Middle School.
