SOUTH BEND, Ind. — REAL News Michiana has received email communication from the South Bend Police Department showing the South Bend Community School Corporation is looking to pay to have more cops in its high schools. They’re currently looking to hire 10 more officers.
The email, that was sent to all of the officers states:
“South Bend Community School Corporation is looking for additional Police Officers to work in the four high schools starting immediately. Washington, Riley and Adams with get 2, Clay with get 4. This is in addition to any other officers already working in the schools and not to replace them, so don’t start any juicy rumors. This detail starts immediately and will continue until further notice. The hours will be 8am to 4pm during normal school days. Pay is $50.00 per hour.”

This comes as several fights have ensued in South Bend Schools and after an RNM investigation uncovered a paid security guard at South Bend’s Rise Up Academy was a convicted armed robber who was actively hiding crimes committed by students.
This is also despite the fact that the local chapter of Black Lives Matter continues to push for cops to be taken out of area schools. Just last month, a group of BLM protestors gathered outside of the SBCSC administration building with one man yelling, “The students are in danger because the police are brutalizing them and you are funding it!”
