LAPORTE, Ind. — REAL News Michiana has learned the Republican Mayor of LaPorte, Tom Dermody, took to Facebook to promote the fetish known as “Furrydom”. The “Furry” fetish involves people being obsessed with (and often sexually attracted to) anthropomorphic animals.
Mayor Dermody posted a picture of a woman in a “Furry” outfit to his Facebook page promoting the city’s annual “Spooktacular” event, which took place on Saturday, October 12th.
“LA PORTE FAMILIES LOVE OUR DOWNTOWN – SPOOKTACULAR 2024!!!!” Dermody wrote on his post that included several pictures of families and children. Mixed into the photos of children in innocent costumes was a picture of a woman in an obvious “Furry” outfit, which is commonly used for sexual fetishes.

Mayor Dermody has been a mainstay in Republican politics in Northwest Indiana for the past decade. He was a member of the Indiana House of Representatives (District 20) from 2006-2016. He has also served on the LaPorte Community School Corporation Board of School Trustees. He was elected to the office of the LaPorte Mayor in 2018.
