INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — REAL News Michiana has learned some Democrats could be heard cheering at the Indiana Democrat Party Convention this weekend after learning about the assassination attempt against former President Donald Trump on Saturday evening.
“I’m at the Indiana Democratic Party convention where a speaker interrupted the delegate vote and announced an “assault” on Trump. At least one person cheered.” James Briggs, a columnist for the Indianapolis Star, wrote on X.

The Indiana Democrat Party Convention was held at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis on Saturday. Briggs quickly deleted the tweet following pressure from Democrats. The Indianapolis Star never published a story about the cheering incident.
A 20-year-old man shot Trump in the ear during a campaign rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday. At least on rally-goer was killed by stray bullets. Several others were injured.
The Indianapolis Star received widespread condemnation for its reporting on the events. Hours after it was evident someone attempted to kill President Trump, an Indianapolis Star headline and social media posts stated “Trump removed from stage by Secret Service after loud noises startles former president, crowd.”
