SOUTH BEND, Ind. — REAL News Michiana has learned the St. Joseph County Republican Party’s Vice Chair, Trisha Carrico, is announcing her resignation. This makes her the second person in the GOP’s executive team to walk away from their role in just as many days. Just yesterday, GOP Chair Tyler Gillean also announced his resignation in an email sent to the entire party.

Carrico has been involved in the county GOP for years, serving as a Republican Member of the Voter Registration Office and eventually the Republican Board Chair of Voter Registration. While in that role, Carrico fought tirelessly to ensure election integrity. Those efforts brought forth highly publicized and immense backlash from Democrats that Carrico weathered with unmatched grace and courage. Carrico is currently the Chief Deputy Clerk serving under Republican St. Joseph County Clerk Amy Rolfes.

Carrico released her resignation letter to RNM late last night and plans to send it out to the rest of the party later today. RNM has learned at least one more member of the GOP’s executive team plans to announce their resignation as well. Carrico’s letter can be read in its entirety below.

It is with a mixture of pride and solemnity that I will tender my resignation as Vice Chair later this month.

Serving as Vice Chair has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my professional life. I am immensely proud of the strong leadership and unwavering dedication that our team has demonstrated. Our collective efforts have been pivotal in advancing our mission and achieving our goals of the St Joseph County Republican Party.

Working closely with Tyler Gillean has been an honor. Tyler’s exceptional leadership, vision, and commitment to the party’s values have been genuinely inspiring. His guidance and strategic direction have strengthened our party and enhanced our impact within the community. It has been a privilege to contribute to this journey under his stewardship. Tyler, you are family now and thank you for believing in me. I truly love you.

I am particularly proud of Lincoln Day’s success, an event showcasing our unity, dedication, and the strength of our shared values. Being a part of such a significant and successful event is a memory I will cherish.

When I step down from my position, I do so with confidence in the resilience and capability of our party. I dedicated myself to the betterment of the party despite the hurtful rumors and overzealous agendas of a few of our elected officials. It saddens me that they put their agendas ahead of the party. I am confident that the party will continue to thrive and achieve great things if they support the Chair and Vice Chair. I am grateful for the opportunity to have served alongside such dedicated and passionate individuals.

Thank you for the support, encouragement, and trust you have extended me during my tenure. I look forward to seeing the continued growth and success of the St Joseph County Republican Party!

Yours sincerely,

Trisha Carrico

  1. “RNM has learned at least one more member of the GOP’s executive team plans to announce their resignation as well.”

Hopefully the cause of these 3 resignations is mundane, but if it’s not I hope you find out what’s going on and cover it, Clifton. A trifecta of resignations in a short time makes me think that something is afoot.
