INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Attorney General Todd Rokita took to social media to publicly shame the Penn Harris Madison School Corporation for its Critical Race Theory Curriculum which included a diagram called the Pyramid of White Supremacy.

Comments at the base of the pyramid include such problematic statements as: “Why can’t we all just get along,” and “It doesn’t matter who you vote for.”

The pyramid progresses in racism with comments such as, “We all belong to the human race,” and “I don’t see race.” Other ideas at this level include: colorblindness, all lives matter, MAGA and the denial of white privilege.

The graphic is meant to cause such fear in students that if they can remove low levels of racism (such as voting for Republicans), the entire pyramid structure will fall and “genocide” will be avoided.

The graphic was originally included in Social Emotional Learning (SEL) lessons intended for students. However, PHM removed it from its curriculum after a REAL News Michiana investigation in 2021 uncovering the lesson, causing immense community backlash.

“This kind of destructive material was being taught to Penn-Harris-Madison teachers. But, thankfully, after the community stepped up, even the admins realized the words and phrases on this “White Supremacy Pyramid” shouldn’t be promoted by teachers, students or staff. Labeling people as part of groups based on race is both unhealthy and divisive. Period.” Rokita wrote in a post to Facebook.

The curriculum has also been added to the Attorney General’s “Eyes on Education” portal which was recently launched. The portal highlights questionable curriculum being taught to children at Indiana’s public schools. So far, there is curriculum from only 14 schools highlighted in the portal. PHM has five issues highlighted, including a racist STEM event for middle school students and a racist college fair, both of which were uncovered in RNM investigations last year.

Leftist activists have lost their collective minds over the transparency being offered by the AG and have been constantly harassing him and his office on social media. RNM encourages supporters to counter the harassment on his Facebook page and on X (formerly known as Twitter).

PYRAMID OF WHITE SUPREMACY BACKGROUND

The Pyramid of White Supremacy was adopted by the National Equity Project, which believes the public education system perpetuates inequity by design. All of this is part of the Critical Race Theory push happening in school districts across the country. The theory starts with the conclusion that all white people are inherently racist and oppressors. People of color are victims and the oppressed. The theory attempts to fight racism with racism. It is essentially a racial take on communist “critical theory,” attempting to indoctrinate communist ideals into children by calling them racist if they disagree with the teachings.

Since 2020, the school board for Penn Harris Madison School Corporation has worked especially hard to address “racism”. In July of that year, the school board voted unanimously to hire a diversity officer. The move was prompted by alumni and students who called for more attention to race matters. At the time of the vote, Christopher Riley, board president, said: “Today is an important first step in implementing the reforms necessary to eradicate racism and racial injustice within our school system.”

Superintendent Jerry Thacker also agreed there was a need for a diversity officer:  “We need to be focusing on anti-racist themes, anti-racist activities and providing our students with experiences so that they are proud of their heritage.”

Derrick White, who previously served as assistant principal for Penn High School, took over the diversity officer position.  His starting salary was $107,000.  Part of his job description included identifying institutional racism. The South Bend Tribune quoted him as saying:  “I look forward to the magic that we are about to create together with P-H-M students, families and staff.”

  1. $107k salary? DEI is a grift, and nothing more. They are peddling snake oil to solve an imaginary problem.

Remember all the people who were sad and shocked when they found out that Obama wasn’t going to start paying their rent? Same deal.
