PHM promotes STEM event for Girls at ND — Only white kids have to pay to attend

NOTRE DAME, Ind. — REAL News Michiana has learned Discovery Middle School in the Penn Harris Madison school district is promoting a STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Math) event for young girls being hosted at the University of Notre Dame. While the event claims to be for all girls, the registration page for the day-long event appears to show that only white children are going to be forced to pay to attend. However, girls of color and boys who identify as girls will be offered “scholarships” to pay for the registration fee.

The event is being promoted in Discovery Middle School's electronic newsletter, Archer update, and contains a flyer for what's being called the One-Day STEM Conference for Girls at Notre Dame. The not-so-fine-print of the flyer makes it clear that while the program is open to white girls, they will be discriminated against.

"Partnering with Techbridge Girls, we seek to serve Black, Indigenous, and all girls of color, which includes cis girls, trans youth, gender nonconforming, and/or nonbinary youth who experience(d) girlhood and economic insecurity as part of their journey." The flyer for the April 22nd event reads in part.

The registration section for the event then offers scholarships for children wanting to attend. However, white children apparently need-not-apply.

"Scholarship priority will be given to Black, Indigenous, and all girls of color, including cis girls, trans youth, gender-nonconforming, and/or nonbinary youth who experience(d) girlhood and economic insecurity as part of their journey." The registration form explains.

Notre Dame has partnered with a group called Techbridge Girls, that appears to be working with schools across the country to incorporate Critical Race Theory into the teaching of STEM programs.

"Techbridge Girls has developed gender responsive and culturally-relevant STEM curricula that allows girls* to see their unique STEM lineage, culture, community and interests." The organization's website states. "With a focus on dismantling systemic and structural barriers, Techbridge Girls’ advocacy efforts center BIPOC girls*’ experiences in making broad-based systems change."

This kind of discrimination against white children is becoming more and more common at PHM Schools. RNM recently discovered the Superintendent of the PHM School Corporation is offering a scholarship for a graduating Penn High School senior that excludes only one race of people. The “Student Educator Scholarship” is for a graduating senior who plans to seek a degree in teacher education. The only other criteria for applying is that the student cannot be white.

  1. This is racism and discrimination at its core. This represents the steady drip-drip-drip of socialist ideology and needs to STOP. I hope the next school board meeting will fill a stadium.
