INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — REAL News Michiana has discovered Indiana’s premier hospital for children, Riley Hospital for Children, has started offering “gender affirming care” to children and young adults under the age of 21. The “care” includes chemical castration through hormone therapy and surgical sex changes.
Listed under the “Gender Health Program” on Riley’s website, the hospital claims its services include psychological counseling, treatment for menstrual suppression, gender-affirming hormone therapy and surgery consultation and coordination.
Under the “Why Choose the Gender Health Program” section of the website, Riley Children’s Hospital states, “We will respect the identity of your child and offer a safe space to find care while family members and parents stay engaged with their child’s care.”
It goes on to list the types of “professionals” on the “gender health team.” Those “professionals” include pediatric urologists and endocrinologists. The assumption is those two would specialize in the mutilation of the child’s genitals and the use of hormones.

Hospitals offering gender reassignment surgery and hormone therapies to children have been a growing trend. In October, the DailyWire published a story showing 47 different hospitals offering the services. At the time of their publication, Riley Children’s Hospital was not on the list. However, according to sources in the Indiana legislature, lawmakers were aware of the services being offered at Riley as early as this summer. Some state lawmakers tell RNM they plan to take up the issue with legislation in the next session.
Riley is part of the nonprofit Children’s Miracle Network of Hospitals. According to the nonprofit’s website, “To provide the best care for kids, children’s hospitals rely on donations and community support, as Medicaid and insurance programs do not fully cover the cost of care. Since 1983, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals has helped fill those funding gaps by raising more than $7 billion, most of it $1 at a time through Miracle Balloon icon campaigns. Its various fundraising partners and programs support the nonprofit’s mission to save and improve the lives of as many children as possible.” It’s unclear if any of those donations are being used in the gender reassignment of children.
