Sources tell RNM, the Indiana State Police investigation was either recently completed or is nearing completion. The report is being sent to the prosecutor’s office for consideration of potential criminal charges.
UPDATE
RNM reached out to the Elkhart Police Department and the Elkhart Mayor’s Office. As of publication, neither had responded to our requests for comment. RNM gave all involved 15 hours to respond to the request before publication.
The Mayor’s Director of Communications, Corinne Straight, sent an email to RNM at 8:30 this morning, confirming they have known about the investigation since September and have not made it public.
“I see you have already run your piece without waiting for a response from our office.” Straight wrote. “We were told about this incident when it happened by Chief Seymore because he is the one who filed a complaint with ISP that initiated the investigation. I have known Kris for over a year as the Baugo School Board President; he is a good man and a good family man. Like anyone who is otherwise kind and decent, everyone has a threshold. I hope and pray he gets a fair shake.
