Voter Registration Official facing election fraud investigation

SOUTH BEND, Ind. — REAL News Michiana has confirmed the Democrat Board Member of the St. Joseph County Voter Registration Office, Amanda Konrath, is under investigation for allegedly illegally registering a non-eligible person to vote the day before the 2022 General Election. It also appears she did so at the behest of a Democrat candidate who is on the ballot in what is considered a contested race.

The St. Joseph County Election Board discussed the alleged fraud at a meeting in the County Clerk’s Office yesterday afternoon. In the meeting, the Board laid out the timeline of events and decided to set an official hearing in the case in order to subpoena all parties involved. That hearing is scheduled for November 18th at 10:00am.

TIMELINE

According to election officials, a woman called into the Voter Registration Office on Monday asking to speak with a Democrat official. She was transferred to the Voter Registration Office and directed to speak with a Democrat employee by Deputy St. Joseph County Auditor John Murphy. Murphy is currently running for Auditor as a Democrat.

The woman’s call was answered by the Republican Board Member, who attempted to assist the caller. The Republican Board Member discovered the woman’s voter registration had been cancelled earlier in the year because her information was not up to date. It turns out, the former Democrat Board Member, Muhammad Shabazz, was the person who cancelled the registration after several attempts were made to get the proper information.

Eventually, the call was sent over to Amanda Konrath, who secretly registered the woman to vote at 11:00am. Records show the woman cast her ballot at an early voting location shortly after.

FRAUD

Here’s the problem: Voters must be registered 30 days prior to an election.

However, the law does allow for certain exceptions. If, for instance, an error was made by the Voter Registration Office, the voter can have their status corrected. That can only be done if the error was made by the Voter Registration Office and not at the fault of the voter herself.

In an instance of an error being made, the Voter Registration official must issue what is called a Certificate of Error and the voter is given a provisional ballot. This process must be done and approved by both the Democrat and Republican members of the office. None of that was done in this case.

THE BALLOT

Since the ballot was already cast, there’s now an issue of tracking it down. According to officials, it has already been placed into a secret envelope and is being stored with several other ballots. Workers will not be able to find the ballot until they begin counting them. Meaning, they will have to be extra diligent to identify the ballot and set it aside to ensure it is not counted as part of the official election results today.

RNM is told an audit was done in the Voter Registration Office to see if any other cancelled registrations were reactivated in a similar manner. According to officials in the office, it appears this was the only case that was discovered.

PENALTIES

Konrath is potentially facing criminal charges at both the federal and state levels. Konrath could face up to 10 years in federal prison for election fraud and conspiracy. She could also be facing a level 6 felony charge at the state level for election fraud.

RNM attempted to speak with Konrath regarding the allegations outside of yesterday’s meeting. She responded by walking away yelling “Fuck you. You’re a fucking blogger.”

Konrath has been an outspoken supporter of Democrat County Clerk Rita Glenn, who is currently under two Indiana State Police investigations for potential crimes related to the handling of absentee ballots. Konrath was caught lying to protect Glenn at a public meeting last month.

SOCIAL MEDIA

It also appears, Konrath has a history of making light of any election fraud claims. She has made multiple social media posts since 2020 lambasting anyone who brings up election fraud.

In December of 2020 she wrote the following on Twitter:

“Voter ID laws… voter purges… it is all the same GOP that is crying about fake fraud.”

In November of 2020 she wrote “Republicans cry voter fraud because a hurt dog hollers.”

And, just last month she wrote “Republican shenanigans. Basically they are crying fraud to help perpetuate the big lie.”
