SOUTH BEND, Ind. — REAL News Michiana has uncovered the disturbing social media feed of the St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Chief Investigator, showing extreme racial and political animus. The comments posted by the investigator raise real concerns about his ability to do his job without prejudice toward race or political affiliation.
Attacks on white people and Republicans appear on David Newton’s Facebook page on a consistent basis. Newton is listed as the Chief Investigator of the St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office. According to his Linkedin profile, he’s held the position for nearly 5 years. Below are just a few examples of Newton’s apparent hatred toward people based on race and political affiliation.
In a post from August 22nd, he calls out “Republican Whites.”
In the following post from June, Newton simply says “Hey Republicans, you suck.” Below that, he gives Republicans the nickname “Repugnants.”
He also appears to simply call things he disagrees with, racist.
One of the more glaring trends on his social media feed, considering Newton’s position as an investigator with the prosecutor’s office, is his penchant to jump to conclusions on investigations based on who is being investigated and their political affiliations.
In the following posts, he calls one sitting member of congress a child molester, he claims Donald Trump is going to go to jail and calls the former attorney general a liar.
RNM sent the following email to prosecutor Ken Cotter’s office along with about 20 examples pulled from Newton’s Facebook profile. As of publication, we have not received a response.
I am looking into the behavior of investigator David Newton. I have several screenshots from his social media accounts.
The posts show what appear to be racial and political animus. Do these posts go against any policy? Can the public trust this man to do his job and follow evidence, not his ideology?

Prior to taking his position with the prosecutor’s office, Newton was a long time officer at the South Bend Police Department.

On May 19, 2021, Buttigieg reinstated an Obama-era pilot program which ensures local hiring for public works projects, with the goal of helping minorities and disadvantaged individuals.
This clown needs to loose his job! It may also show a problem with the South Bend police force. Not all cops are bad, but this guy takes the cake. I would think that in times past, HIS comments would be called racist!
