Top Administrator Who Kicked Cop Out of Elementary School Plays Race Card, Feels “Unsafe”

Dr. Cheryl Camacho, CEO, South Bend Empowerment Zone

SOUTH BEND, Ind — The head administrator of 5 South Bend Schools who kicked a police officer out of Coquillard Elementary School late last month, is doubling down on her actions. In a Facebook post on Dr. Cheryl Camacho’s personal account, the CEO of the South Bend Empowerment Zone says she is “anxious” when she sees police and the actions taken by SBPD make her feel “unsafe” as a “Black Woman.”

“My truth is that, as a Black woman, the actions that the officer in question chose to take… made, and continue to make me, feel unsafe.” She wrote in part of the post, attempting to paint herself as the victim in the situation. Camacho’s diatribe makes it even more clear; Camacho doesn’t like police and she wants to keep children from having interactions with law enforcement.

She also calls out RNM for “racial and gender overtones” in its reporting.

The officer involved was doing a standard walk through at Coquillard Elementary School when he was approached by Camacho who questioned his intentions and criticized his responses. You can read the original story that REAL News Michiana broke and watch the full video here.

Camacho’s entire Facebook post can be seen below:

The South Bend FOP made a Facebook post of its own, criticizing Camacho’s actions as divisive and called her out for ignoring the actual issues plaguing our community.

  1. She is disgusting. As a teacher all I have to say is when a student takes a gun or knives to school and hurts or kills someone (by the time cops arrive) it’s all on her. This had nothing to do with race or gender as she said it maid her feel unsafe . She said this after video was released. Hmm wonder why? Thank you for EMPOWERING a student been killed Mrs Camacho.
    Thank you to the cops!!!

And your board president has been arrested several times for DWI and you can find his criminal record easily. In our district he would have been gone.

      Thank you to the cops!!!
