MISHAWAKA, Ind. — REAL News Michiana has learned the Penn Harris Madison School Board removed a Professional Development contract from its meeting agenda earlier this week. It turns out, the company potentially being hired by PHM attempts to push “systemic racism” and “white privilege” into Science curriculum.

On Monday, the board was set to vote on giving the National Science Teaching Association $28,000 for several “Professional Development” programs for PHM Science Teachers. However, after concerned parents reached out to board members prior to the meeting, the agenda item was removed and the contract was not approved.

A quick search of the NSTA’s website gives an overview of some of the lessons taught. One lesson meant to combat “misinformation” instead pushes “white privilege”, “systemic racism” and racist theories claiming Black people don’t get vaccinated because they’re uneducated.

“You may experience ‘push-back’, or students who do not believe systemic racism exists. Learning how to have these conversations takes practice, courage, and skill. We recommend reviewing resources from Learning for Justice to support you during this lesson and beyond.” The NSTA’s professional development material reads (see entire document below).

The contract that was pulled by PHM contained essentially zero details about the content of the professional development, but did have a punitive clause for the school district if the company’s materials were to be leaked.

“The District agrees and warrants, during the term of this Agreement and thereafter, to protect and not disclose such confidential information to third parties, except as authorized by NSTA, and not to use such confidential information for any purpose other than the development, production, and marketing of NSTA content or professional learning under this Agreement. These obligations and warranties shall survive the termination of this
Agreement.” The contract reads (see entire contract below).

It’s unclear if the professional development contract will eventually be brought back to the agenda. However, RNM has learned several school board members were concerned with the content being presented.

RNM is attempting to find out who at PHM was responsible for proposing the NSTA and how much they knew about the curriculum the organization presents.

  1. Systemic racism definitely does exist. The system is racist against white people, just like it is sexist against men.

Not only does the system encourage racism and sexism against white males, that discrimination is often legally mandatory. Programs like the one that was proposed just make matters worse.

Thank you RNM for reporting on this!

  2. Why is it only White nations are being taught to be ashamed of being who they are, to shame their ancestors, to appease “others”, etc?
