ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. — REAL News Michiana has obtained a bizarre email sent by Elkhart County Sheriff Jeff Siegel to his staff and deputies following an incident in which a corrections officer was arrested for having sex with a female inmate in the Elkhart County Jail.
“In the first episode of Mess Around and Find Out 2024, Officer Malachi Yoder decided to have sexual intercourse with a female inmate in medical.” Sheriff Siegel wrote in his January 6th email. “Officer Malachi Yoder has disgraced himself, and dishonored the corrections division, an our agency. On January 3, 2023, between the hours of 2:39am and 5:06am, Officer Malachi Yoder admitted to entering a female inmate’s cell several times to engage in sexual activity. This was confirmed by the inmate and other inmates within the medical area.”
26-year-old Malachi Yoder is currently being charged with Felony Sexual Misconduct.
According to court documents, a different female inmate reported the sexual incidents to a jail nurse on January 5th. The nurse then reported the potential crime to the Sheriff’s Department.
According to charging documents, Yoder also violated policy by entering the inmate’s cell without turning on his body camera.

Yes, it is a bit bizarre, but statements like “I will not tolerate this kind of behavior…” etc, are so commonplace and expected in the concluding paragraph of a factual report it completely lacks credibility.. like politicians campaigning on “term limits” until they get in office and then forget all about it.
So Jeff started the report off a little differently… I believe to make his point vividly clear that he means it. And, look what it did…. it made headlines at no cost. Exactly what he wanted. A bit Trump-ish, wouldn’t you say?

I like the reporting you do most of time but in a few cases, like this one, I see you are just straining for gnats. I’m guessing the Elkhart County Sheriff is someone you disapprove of. While you do a great job of exposing the loonies on the left, you also exhibit a disturbing pattern of attacking those who are in the Republican Party who do not toe the RINO line, but act according to the Constitution.
