SOUTH BEND, Ind. — The three Republican St. Joseph County Commissioners voted in support of teaching young children about anal sex, poop fetishes, hook-up apps and bath houses on Tuesday, all while backing out on a promise to hold interviews and appoint a new member to the St. Joseph County Library Board. In a unanimous vote, the completely Republican Board of Commissioners consisting of Carl Baxmeyer, Derek Dieter and Deb Fleming reappointed a man to the Library Board who they knew had recently allowed actual pornography to be placed in the children’s area of the library next to books like Peppa Pig.
In a 3-0 vote, the Republican Commissioners voted to give lifelong Democrat Library Board Member Alan Feldbaum another four year term on the board.
In August, Feldbaum and the rest of the Democrat led Library Board doubled down on a policy to allow pornographic material to remain in children’s areas after a parent brought up her concerns regarding a book titled This Book is Gay that was sitting next to titles such as PJ Masks and Star Wars.
This Book is Gay includes graphic drawings of male and female sex organs and also directs children to experiment with sexual bathhouses. One chapter is titled “The ins and outs of gay sex.” Once again, all of this is just two feet away from picture books with nursery rhymes.

The mother’s request to have the book removed from sections for children was denied by the library director this past summer. Director of Library Branch Services Dawn Matthews compared offering sexual and non-sexual books to kids as promoting the same type of diversity as offering books about Donald Trump and Barack Obama.
Republican Commissioner Derek Dieter seemed to echo the perversion in a quote given to the South Bend Tribune on Tuesday.
The St. Joseph County Democrat Party celebrated the appointment during Tuesday’s meeting with a raucous applause. The party then took to social media to thank its activists for putting pressure on the Republican Commissioners.
“Thank you to everyone who called and/or emailed our County Commissioners regarding the SJCPL Board! Our voices were heard!” A post on the SJC Democrat Party Facebook page reads.

None of the County Commissioners responded to RNM’s requests for comment.
While Deb Fleming is set to retire and vacate her seat in January, RNM will be working with stakeholders to ensure Dieter and Baxmeyer never hold public office again. Anyone who wishes to express their opinions with the three GOP commissioners can find their emails below.
