SOUTH BEND, Ind. — REAL News Michiana has learned the South Bend Cubs is partnering with an organization that puts together drag shows for kids for the baseball club’s “Pride Night” this year. In fact, a portion of ticket sales goes right to the organization that hosts multiple drag shows for children every year.
The event is being called “Pride Night at the South Bend Cubs” and is scheduled for June 22nd.
“Take me out to the ball game!” A description of the event from the South Bend LGBTQ Center states. “It isn’t Pride month in Michiana without a trip to Four Winds Field to watch the South Bend Cubs. Show your pride and enjoy a night at the ballpark. Tickets are $12 and a portion comes back to The LGBTQ Center. Support the Center and see a great game.”
DRAG SHOWS FOR KIDS
The South Bend LGBTQ Center has been hosting drag shows for children for years. In fact, the organization has another drag show for the youth scheduled for June 9th at a local church.
The Well Coffee House, which is part of (and inside) River Park Grace Church, is hosting the “All Ages Drag Pride Edition.” According to the portal used to purchase tickets for the event, children 5 and under get in for free. While kids 6-17 get in at half price. The event goes from 6:00pm-9:00pm.
The church and LGBTQ Center held a similar Halloween themed drag show for children in October of 2022. During that event, free admission was offered to children 4-years-old and younger with children 5-17 receiving a discounted entry fee of $5. However, adults had to pay $10.
The Halloween themed event received major backlash from the public with a large protest during the show. Ironically, members of the Satanic Temple, Northern Indiana Atheists and abortion clinic volunteers provided security for the church during the protest.
Last summer, RNM broke a story about another LGBTQ Center drag show in which a Girl Scout Troop attended. At that event, young Girl Scout members tipped the drag queens with Girl Scout cookies.
Despite hosting drag shows for children, the LGBTQ Center has garnered support from politicians such as Sheriff Bill Redman and former Mayor, Pete Buttigieg.

The South Bend Cubs has been hosting Pride Night events for years. RNM reached out to the Cubs’ leadership for comment, including owner Andrew Berlin. As of publication we have not received a response.
Berlin is also the owner of Berlin Packaging based in Chicago. One of his company’s biggest clients is Anheuser-Busch, which has lost billions of dollars in a boycott following a disastrous Bud Light Public Relations campaign involving transvestite Dylan Mulvaney.

Hi, I showed this to our youth pastor who is planning a trip with the youth group to the SB Cubs. He wondered if the LGBTQ group rented out a portion of the stadium for the night or if the SB Cubs is sponsoring this because he says there is a difference. They can’t discriminate against what group wants to rent out a portion of the stadium and sell the tickets, such as a church or organization but if they are sponsoring it then that is different.
